Fog seal is a light application of either a liquid rejuvenating agent or a liquid asphalt product without an aggregate cover. The advantages of these treatments are that is seals the pavement surface, it inhibits raveling of the fine aggregate at the surface of the pavement, it enriches hardened/oxidized asphalt and is some cases it provides a delineation with the shoulder.

There are many different types of fog seals on the market today and they typically cost less than $1 per square yard to be placed.
